Gynaecology is the specialty concerned with medical and surgical conditions of the female reproductive system (except from those related to pregnancy and child-birth, which is obstetrics).
The female reproductive system comprises of the ovaries, the fallopian tubes, the uterus and the vagina.
It is also involved with treatment and health provision to patients in relation to contraception, reproductive health and associated primary sexual health issues, as well as primary and secondary pathology and physiology of the reproductive system and genital tract area.
