Andrew Lienert is a New Zealand trained urologist specialising in laparoscopic uro-oncology and kidney stone surgery. He also provides a full range of general urological expertise. Andrew is currently the Director of Urology Training for the Auckland and Counties Manukau DHBs.

Born and raised in Christchurch, Andrew attended the University of Otago School of Medicine and completed the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons advanced training in Urology. He spent a year at St Georges Hospital Sydney, Australia and then a year at the prestigious Imperial College in London, UK. During those two years he performed a high volume of laparoscopic operations and mastered complex laparoscopic skills.
Andrew has learned new and novel techniques for managing urological conditions especially within the field of kidney stone surgery and sling surgery for male and female incontinence. In addition he has trained in laser prostatectomy (HoLEP) for treating male lower tract symptoms.
Dividing his time between public and private practice, Andrew holds an appointment at Auckland Hospital and is the first urologist to be employed by Counties Manukau DHB. In private he is accredited to operate at Brightside Southern Cross Hospital, Ormiston and Ascot Hospitals.
Andrew has an active interest in ongoing research and training. He has published several peer-reviewed scientific papers and has presented at both local and international meetings.
He consults at eastMED in St Heliers and at OneSixOne in Epsom and welcomes your referrals to 188 where he has fortnightly sessions.
